For Australian clinical use, purchasing a Class B autoclave alone does not establish compliance with AS 5369:2023. The steriliser must be appropriate for the intended instrument loads and supported by correct installation, validation, testing, maintenance, record keeping and instrument reprocessing procedures.

RECORD KEEPING

The optional built in printer produces a receipt for each sterilisation cycle, making it easier to maintain accurate records. Each receipt should be stored with the date, cycle number, load contents, operator name and cycle result. Records should also include routine test results, servicing, validation, maintenance and any failed cycles or corrective action taken. If you choose a model without the printer, this information must be recorded manually or through another reliable record keeping system.
